Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear?

During the ceremony it’s likely to be quite warm, so we recommend to wear a dressy but comfortable summer outfit. High heels or dress shoes will work, if you choose to, as the walk from the park entrance to the ceremony location is short . For kids: there is a playground area, including a small water park, so please don’t forget to bring them a change of clothes.

  • Please Do - wear a polo shirt or short sleeved collared shirt, light summer pants, a light dress, dressy but summery blouse/tank, etc.

  • Please Do Not - wear a t-shirt and/or shorts. Especially do not wear jogging shoes / running sneakers (dressy sneakers are fine).

  • Note - high heels are fine as there isn't a long walk from the bus to the event.

In the evening - dress to impress. Pull out the fancy clothes that have been hiding in the back of your closet for the last 2 years of the pandemic. Think bright colors, fun hats, glitter, high heels but make sure you pack some dancing shoes as well!

  • Please Do - wear a dress or a blazer (a t-shirt under a blazer is a great here). Something you can dance in and have fun all night.

  • Please Do Not - wear a t-shirt and/or shorts. Especially do not wear jogging shoes / running sneakers (dressy sneakers are fine). The idea is not to be super casual but about looking sharp like you're going out to have some fun.

  • Note - You may want to have some shoes for dancing with you alongside your fancy shoes.

Can I bring my kids?

During the ceremony we would love to have as many kids as possible attend. We believe the “imperfection” they bring to a such a traditional ceremony is actually perfect.

Our amazing babysitter, Anni, will join us for the full day of activities and help look after all the kids.

However, we hope you understand that it’s hard to have a great party with grumpy, sleepy toddlers. That’s why we would like to reduce the amount of kids in the evening to the ones who travel to Berlin or Berlin kids that are still being breastfed. We will have a limited amount of opportunities in the location for kids to sleep. Please reach out to us, if you would like to use one of the beds.

Can I take photos?

We would appreciate if you enjoy the day and don’t view the day through the camera of your phone. We have hired an amazing photographer and will provide you access to all the photos once we receive them. Our photographer will also take some photos from her phone, which we will be shared promptly.

Do you have recommendations for what do in and around Berlin?

Please have a look at Caro’s Airbnb Guidebook, there you should find anything you need for a few days in Berlin. Most locations are really close to the hotels we’ve recommended.

We highly recommend that you get the new 9€ ticket that you can use in all public transportation around Germany. All the information can be found here.

If you want to travel outside of Berlin but stay in the region, the closest choice is the Mecklenburgische Seenplatte. This area has a lot of beautiful lakes and natural scenery. Rheinsberg in particular is easy to reach from Berlin by public transport and the Hotel Seehof is highly recommended.

If you want to adventure slightly further away from Berlin, we recommend visiting the Saale-Unstrut wine region . The Freylich-Zahn hotel is one of our favorites (and you should make a dinner reservation in their restaurant). You can combine it with a trip to the city of Leipzig.

Another beautiful destination is Dresden and the nature reserve Sächsische Schweiz. The best place to stay is in Schmilka.

How do I get to the ceremony in Oranienburg?

We have organized a shuttle bus that leaves from our apartment building (Fehrbelliner Straße 47G) at 9am and returns there after the ceremony. The bus ride is a great opportunity to meet and/or catch up with our other friends and family members. So we would like to ask you to take the bus.

What is the weather like in Germany?

August is the peak of summer time in Germany. You can expect night time to be about 15C (59F) and day time to be 25C (77F), though we’ve had summer heatwaves that where over 35C (95F) in the afternoon.

There is an extremely small chance of rain in August but we suggest to play it safe and keep an eye on weather reports before hand.

Can I bring my pet to your wedding?

Unfortunately, no pets are allowed at the Schloss Oranienburg garden. And having them at the reception with 50 people (including children from out of town), lots of food and drink as well as loud music is not ideal. Apologies! :(

As most of you know, our dog Red is almost always with us. And we expected him to be part of the ceremony. However, we had to make the hard decision to accept a fantastic location without dogs or push the wedding out a year. Most weddings have been postponed numerous times over the last two years thanks to Covid and there is an extreme shortage of dates and locations this year. We decided to accept we were extremely lucky everything else worked out.

Where is the gift registry?

If you made it this far into the FAQs, you are really determined to answer this question. The simple answer is that we have everything we need (literally and figuratively), so the most important part to us is seeing you for the wedding.

We've personally had a lot of debate about this topic. To keep things simple, if you'd like to give us a wedding gift, please send money to our PayPal address here.

PLEASE don't bring cash gifts as it's easy to lose with so much going on.
